Suspected killer shot Kirk and escaped by jumping from the roof: Video released

Authorities in the U.S. state of Utah have released a video of the suspected killer of Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead. The footage shows that immediately after shooting Kirk, the suspect jumped off the roof and then fled the scene on foot.

In addition, an image of a suspected individual linked to the shooting incident was released yesterday. Investigators stated that a rifle was recovered at the scene, which is believed to have been used in the killing. Both the rifle and the bullets reportedly contained writings on various political issues.

At a press conference, officials said that security camera footage showed a man climbing stairs to the roof, taking aim, and firing at Kirk. The bullet struck Kirk in the neck just as he was answering a question from the audience about mass shootings. Kirk was known as a staunch supporter of gun rights in the U.S. Following the gunfire, panicked spectators were seen fleeing the venue.

A video released by officials in Utah shows a man climbing down from the rooftop of the building from where Charlie Kirk was shot.

Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Bo Mason said the man left behind fingerprints and other DNA samples while descending from the roof. The video further shows the suspect crossing a street and entering a wooded area near the campus. Authorities reported that from there, they recovered a “high-powered bolt-action” rifle.

The second batch of images released by Utah officials are clearer, showing the slim-built young man carrying a backpack and wearing Converse shoes. The FBI announced a \$100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s capture. They also released blurry surveillance photos showing a “suspected individual” wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, black sunglasses, and a dark baseball cap. The shirt had an eagle printed against the backdrop of the U.S. flag.

According to one expert, audio from near the stage where Charlie Kirk was speaking suggests he was killed with a single supersonic bullet.

The search for the killer of 31-year-old conservative activist Charlie Kirk is still ongoing. Kirk was an author, podcast host, and a close ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump. He had played a key role in expanding Republican support among young voters. Trump has described the killing as a “heinous murder.”

Investigators have not yet publicly disclosed why Charlie Kirk was killed. However, Trump told reporters that he has some idea about the killer’s motive, saying, “We will let you know about it later.”

Trump added that law enforcement agencies have made “major progress” in the investigation. According to the FBI and state officials, the killer entered the campus just minutes before the event began. The debate, titled “Prove Me Wrong,” was held at Utah Valley University and was attended by nearly 3,000 people.
