There is an ongoing controversy and legal battle over whether French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife, Brigitte, is a “woman.” President Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron are pursuing a legal case in a U.S. court. They plan to present some photographs and scientific evidence to prove that Brigitte Macron is indeed a woman.
Macron and his wife’s lawyer said they will submit these documents in a defamation case filed against U.S.-based right-wing influencer Candace Owens. Owens has been spreading claims that she believes Brigitte Macron was born male.
Owens’s lawyers, on the other hand, have filed a separate motion to dismiss the case.
In an interview with the BBC’s *Women Under Fire* podcast, the Macrons’ lawyer, Tom Clare, said Brigitte Macron found these allegations “deeply hurtful.” He added that they have also created an “uncomfortable situation” for the French president.
Macron said, “I’m not saying that it completely disrupts his work. But when a person is trying to balance professional and family life, any attack on the family shakes them deeply. And just because he is the president does not mean he is immune from this.”
According to lawyer Clare, expert testimony will be presented in court on behalf of the Macrons, and its basis will be scientific. However, he did not disclose exactly what kind of scientific proof will be given. Clare said the Macrons want to prove comprehensively and specifically that the allegations are false.
Clare also noted that this is a process Brigitte must handle very publicly, and she is willing to do so. She is determined to take all necessary steps to establish the truth.
When asked whether photographs from Brigitte Macron’s pregnancies or evidence of her raising children would be submitted in court, lawyer Tom Clare replied that such pictures exist and will be presented according to the court’s rules and standards.
Owens, a former analyst for U.S. conservative outlet *The Daily Wire*, has millions of followers on social media. She has repeatedly claimed that Brigitte Macron is a man. In March 2024, she even declared that she was prepared to stake her “entire professional reputation” on the allegation.
