Israel launches attacks in six Middle Eastern and North African countries within 72 hours
Israel has launched attacks in six
countries in the Middle East and North Africa over the past 72 hours. On
Tuesday, the country carried out an airstrike in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
The Jewish state claimed that the strike targeted a meeting of Hamas leaders in
Doha. The meeting had been convened to discuss the U.S.-proposed ceasefire in
Gaza.
At least six people were killed in
the attack. Among them were the son of senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, his
office director, three bodyguards, and a Qatari security officer. However, it
is reported that the top leaders survived the attack.
The far-right government of Israeli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched the strike as part of its broader
campaign of attacks beyond its borders. In addition to Qatar, Israel has
targeted five other countries in the past 72 hours. Qatar has become the
seventh country targeted by Israeli attacks this year.
Ongoing attacks in Gaza
Since Monday alone, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed at least 150 people
and injured more than 540 Palestinians.
On Monday, 67 people were killed and
320 were admitted to hospitals. Among the dead were 14 people who had gone to
receive aid. Six others died from starvation, including two children.
On Tuesday, another 83 people were
killed and 223 injured.
The relentless Israeli military
continues to destroy tower buildings, infrastructure, and displace people in
Gaza City. As a result, many are left with no shelter.
Since October 2023, at least 64,656
people have been killed in Israel’s brutal and indiscriminate attacks on Gaza.
Among them, at least 404 died from starvation. Many people remain trapped under
the rubble.
Attack on Lebanon Despite Ceasefire
On Monday at 1:00 PM local time, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes in
the eastern Lebanese regions of Bekaa and Hermel. At least five people were killed
in the attack.
Israel claimed that it targeted
Hezbollah's weapons depots and military installations. However, this
information could not be independently verified. Hezbollah has not commented on
the incident.
Israel launched this attack in
violation of the ceasefire agreement signed in November. Despite the agreement,
Israel continues to carry out daily attacks in southern Lebanon and has
occupied five border posts.
On Tuesday, Israel again conducted a
drone strike at the entrance of Barja village, south of Beirut, injuring a
Hezbollah member.
