800 drones and missiles strike Ukraine in one night, Zelensky urges the West to send troops
Russia launched more than 800 drones and 13 missiles in an attack on Ukraine last Saturday night. Among them were four ballistic missiles, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post on Telegram.
Meanwhile,
in his first response after the unprecedented overnight attacks on Kyiv and
several other areas, Zelensky called on allies to implement all the decisions
agreed upon at the Paris meeting.
In
last night’s attack, a 32-year-old woman and her 2-month-old child were killed
in Kyiv."
"Zelensky
said, *‘When diplomatic efforts have already begun long ago, such killings are
nothing but deliberate crimes and an attempt to prolong the war.’*
To
further discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, the *Coalition of the Willing*
met in Paris this week. After Thursday’s meeting, French President Emmanuel
Macron stated that 26 countries had pledged to guarantee Ukraine’s security in
the post-war period. This includes the potential deployment of international
troops in Ukraine and international monitoring of the country’s land, sea, and
airspace.
The
day after Macron’s statement, Putin issued a warning, saying that any Western
troops deployed in Ukraine would become legitimate targets for Moscow’s
strikes.
On
Sunday, Zelensky wrote, *‘If the world chooses, it can force the Kremlin’s
criminals to stop the killings. All that is needed is political will.’*
